the idea originally came from a t.s. elliott poem in which he stated that believers don't ever die, they just fade into Christ, but by dying to self and living for Christ we also seem to fade into him. also inspired by psalms 97. |
a conversation was overheard in which an old man related how he had run out of gas late the night before, he had to knock on 15 doors before someone finally answered..."and then He will answer them saying, 'truly I say to you, to the extent that you did not do it to the least of these, you did not do it to Me'" (matthew 25:45). |
"then Jesus said to His disciples, 'if anyone wishes to come after Me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me'" (matthew 16:24). |

how numb we've become to people, night after night we sing about those who are hungry, those who are dying without Christ... and yet how much do we truly care? where is the pain? where is the sacrifice? it seems to be so much easier to sing and talk and give our tithe to those in need than to carry the burden, to feel the pain, to cry. written in reaction to our own apathy. |
inspired by psalms 97 and an excerpt from oswald chambers "my utmost for his highest": "after the amazing delight and liberty of realizing what Jesus does comes the impenetrable darkness of realizing who He is"... how much we've only begun to know God... |
